Purpose of the call
We invite applications for a 2-year collaborative research grant aimed at addressing auditory health issues.
This initiative seeks to foster collaborations between the IHU reConnect and the Institut Pasteur Main Campus on novel infectious and immunological issues related to congenital and/or acquired auditory deficits.
Context
reConnect brings together all stakeholders in hearing health:
-
patient associations, researchers, ENT clinicians, neurologists, geriatricians, neurosurgeons from the Hearing Institute and Lariboisière Hospital,
-
as well as our partners from Necker and Pitié-Salpêtrière hospitals, healthcare professionals and industrial players in the hearing sector.
Scientific Workpackages
IHU is organized around major scientific workpackages including
WP1 - Novel treatments and handling of abrupt and fluctuating deafness,
WP2 - Preventing and curing progressive hearing loss,
WP3 - Characterizing and treating Auditory Perception Disorders,
WP4 - Hearing and dementia: from pathomechanisms to treatments,
WP5 - Rewiring disrupted audio-phonological networks,
WP6 – Network and Data Science,
WP7 – Connected research and Medecine.
See the sections of the reConnect website for more information and/or you can also reach all WP leaders.

reConnect covers the entire transdisciplinary ecosystem of auditory disorders from the ear to the brain and interconnects actors from preclinical, to industrial and clinical applications.
Its main goal is to move from a compensatory to a curative medicine of hearing, and to leverage auditory processes to treat neurological disorders.
This vision is articulated around four missions:
-
harnessing fundamental auditory neuroscience research to contribute innovative therapeutic developments,
-
preventing noise-induced hearing loss and reduce the far too long gap between hearing loss onset and its clinical handling (ten years on average),
-
filling gaps in academic and professional education and make related careers attractive again,
-
connecting traditionally dislocated constituents of the audition landscape (clinical specialties, academic and industrial partners, paramedical, medical and associative activity sectors)

reConnect is responsible for the grant follow-up process.
Grantees will present their project and results at reConnect events and communication materials.
If the grantee changes during the lifespan of the grant, the project should be reassessed by an ad hoc evaluation conducted by reConnect.
Selection process
reConnect is responsible for the grant selection process.
Applications will be reviewed by a dedicated panel. The final decision on selection will be made by ranking of the received applications during the panel meeting and validated by the executive management of reConnect.
Candidates will be notified by April 30th.
The Executive Management of reConnect reserves the right to postpone the allocation if no project meets the criteria.
